Safeline works to end physical, emotional and sexual violence against women and children through direct service, education, advocacy and social change. 

 

 

OUR SERVICES

Safeline provides a 24/7 toll free number that offers support, safety planning, information and referrals as well as in person support and legal, economic and medical advocacy.

Safeline is an equal opportunity service provider and employer. Safeline is located in central Vermont and serves domestic and sexual violence victims in Orange County and the northern Windsor towns of Sharon, Royalton, Bethel, Stockbridge and Rochester.

Advocate Staff Position Opening

 

Type of Position:        Full-time, exempt

Work Site:                  Main Office

Supervisor:                 Executive Director

 

Scope of Work: The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, retains, and coordinates volunteers to support Safeline’s services and goals. They also function as a hotline advocate.

 

Volunteer Management

  • volunteers for supporting Safeline’s services and goals. This includes for hotline coverage, Town Appropriations, tabling events, and other projects needing volunteers. Make certain volunteers take needed training to receive Crises Worker Privilege status.

  • Retain volunteers by providing initial and ongoing training, recognition and support

  • volunteers for hotline coverage.

  • Prepare volunteer manuals,

  • Create monthly hotline schedule considering volunteers and staff members’ ever-changing schedules. Connect with answering service about hotline schedules.

  • Track volunteer hours and write narratives for grant reports.

  • Update resource lists and communicate changes or new resources to staff and volunteers.

  • Reach out to organizations including Gifford Medical Center, Vermont Technical College, Vermont Law and Graduate School and other sources to recruit volunteers.

  • Staff information table at events.

 

Direct Service

  • Cover hotline shifts during office hours, evenings and weekends as scheduled to provide one-to-one direct service assistance for service users of domestic violence, stalking and sexual abuse. This includes providing immediate crisis support, ongoing emotional support and other assistance as needed including searching for housing, referrals to other organizations and assistance with protection orders.

 

Marketing and Communications:

  • Create, update and maintain Safeline's social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and others; draft and post information to local area email listservs regarding volunteer recruitment as well as general marketing information about Safeline's services.

  • Serve as the point person for updating Safeline's website and managing Safeline's general web presence. 

 

Other

  • Follow procedures for filling out timesheets, check requests, and other paperwork relevant to position.

  • Participate in staff meetings and as a member of the Safeline staff team.

  • Contribute to Safeline projects and initiatives that require participation from all Safeline staff.

  • Other duties as agreed upon.

 

Note: All Safeline staff members follow a rotating Hotline coverage schedule. This position is included in that rotation. Evening and weekend hours are sometimes required. Travel to conferences and trainings are also required as part of this position. Reliable transportation required.

Safeline celebrates donation from the Couch Family Foundation

 

Safeline, Inc., the local domestic and sexual violence advocacy organization, announced receipt of a $13,200 two-year grant from the Couch Family Foundation. 

​

The grant will assist Safeline to substantially expand safety initiatives for survivors of domestic and sexual violence escaping abusive situations 

​

“We are extremely grateful to the Couch Family Foundation for this generous contribution. Survivors often remain trapped in life-threatening situations. Safeline’s work has shown that a safe exit channel can be a vital pathway to support a victim’s struggle to free themselves from abusive conditions and to remain safe,” said Linda Ingold, Safeline’s Executive Director.

The Couch Foundation funds will support Safeline’s work for survivors and their children in the 22 towns of Orange County and upper Windsor. Services include crises intervention, collaboration with law enforcement, legal advocacy, financial education, service referral and support to establish safety. 

In 2024, Safeline provided 2,532 services for 285 victims of domestic violence, stalking and sexual abuse.
